Government seeks views on barriers to industrial energy efficiency

The Government is asking for stakeholder input into the design of a £315 million Industrial Energy Transformation Fund (IETF), aimed at helping energy intensive industries to improve energy efficiency and shift to lower carbon energy.

The informal consultation – which runs until the end of May – wants to hear from stakeholders on the benefits and barriers to industrial decarbonisation.

The fund is intended to help companies build on the opportunities generated by Government reporting policies, such as the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) and Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR). It aims to support energy efficiency and low carbon projects from the feasibility study stage through to deployment.

The informal consultation on the IETF runs until 31 May 2019: you can have your say here. The Government will launch a formal consultation in Autumn, following the launch of a new energy white paper in summer.
