What is the purpose of SECR?

The purpose of SECR is to enable businesses and industry to improve energy efficiency by at least 20 per cent by 2030.

SECR also seeks to reduce the administrative burdens of complying with environmental business reporting, and simplify the policy landscape.

It has additional aims; to contribute to the Government’s carbon budgets by reducing emissions from energy use, and develop markets for energy efficient products. Overall, it’s part of the UK’s shift to a low carbon economy.
